Salon Event | NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette
Andaz 5th Avenue celebrated the release of NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette with a recent salon event with the book’s author, Nathan Pyle. Originally from Ohio, illustrator and tshirt designer Pyle moved to New York City and soon began to notice the unspoken rules that native New Yorkers consider second nature. As he observed and learned he complied the tips and illustrated them in a series that caught the attention of Buzzfeed, New York Magazine and eventually the Director of Communications from Andaz 5th Avenue who jokes that she stalked Pyle on Twitter until he came into the shop for lunch. Lunch lead to a discussion with Pyle’s publisher and it was unanimous that a Salon event would be the perfect way to celebrate the book, which will also be sold in the retail portion of the shop. Answering questions as how do I hail a cab? What is a bodega? Do we need be touching right now? Where should I inhale or exhale while passing sidewalk garbage? How long should I honk my horn? How do I stay safe during a trash tornado? Each tip is a charming black and white illustration. To see photos from the event, click here.
