United Nations

Located on First Avenue between 42nd and 48th Streets, the United Nations headquarters is the meeting place for heads of state, 194 member states, peacekeeping missions and humanitarian assistance. And regardless of how well-traveled you are, a tour through the UN headquarters still offers the best chance to see literally hundreds of cultures gathering together in every costume and color.

The buildings also host relics you might not have known were right on the shores of the East River, such as remnants from the nuclear explosion in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, ivory carvings from China, and a guitar made from an AK47 by Colombian social activist Cesar Lopez.
